I hate it in today's world how people are so judgemental of everything. If you wear sweatpants and a ripped shirt to the store, then you are trash. If you drive a rusted out car that the only thing that works on it is the motor, then your poor. In the same perspective, if it's a pit bull, it's dangerous! I admit, I used to be one of these people. That was of course before I worked at the pound. Now, I love pit bulls. They are great dogs. It's the owners who make them look bad. They are the ones who are training them to fight other dogs and attack people. Naturally, pit bulls are lovers. They live to please their owner and to run around like chickens with their heads cut off. These are really their only two things in their life, besides eat and sleep, they do. My first encounter one on one with the pit bull breed was with Pebbles, a foster dog I had that was just adopted out. She suffered her whole life before she was with pound buddies. She was kept in a cat crate outside in someones backyard. When I got her from the pound, it only took about a week to potty train her and house train her. Pebbles was always looking to please me. If she made me upset, she would lay by my feet and look up at me once in a while waiting for me to forgive her. As soon as I gave her a pet on the head, she was back up and running around like normal again. Even though Pebbles is gone, I still have Fudge, who is also a pit bull. He's afraid of everything! When we first brought him home he was afraid of my cats. Now he is doing better on his fear, but he is the same way that Pebbles was. He does one thing wrong and he lays down until I give him a pet, forgiving him. They both just love my 8 month old baby boy. So, why are these dogs considered dangerous? Because of irresponsible people who think of money only. I have to see a lot of pit bulls put down because they come in the pound as dog aggressive and we can't adopt them out. So, everyone who is for banning the breed, please explain this to them, it's not the breed that needs to be banned, it's the people!
